Who I am?

 

On August 1, 1995, a girl named Yaritza Acosta was born in the Hospital de Graneros. Since his birth and to the present, she has lived in San Francisco de Mostazal, a town located in the sixth region of Chile, approximately 30 minutes from Rancagua and 1 hour from Santiago. The commune's Catholic school, Colegio Teresiano, was her place of study until the middle school when she applied and entered the Liceo Oscar Castro de Rancagua. Her trip to her high school was long and difficult, under the sun and rain, in a bus full of people at 7:00 am, but thanks to this and her efforts, she managed to enter the Universidad de Chile.

She lived for some years in Santiago, but later returned to her hometown, from where she made a two-hour trip to get to her university (before the pandemic).

She is currently a 25 year old girl who is in the fifth year of Chemistry. In her free times, she works in her family's grocery, attending to the people, replenishing, and keeping the local accounts up to date. She still lives with her parents Miguel and Solange, and her sister Ignacia, who is in her last year at the Liceo de Niñas de Rancagua.

Yaritza has two pets, Alice and Lucas, and she loves them with all her heart. She enjoys reading fanfiction, listening to music and watching anime, as well.

Youtube Channels for Chemists

I would say that I visit many websites that help me better understand the content of my major. Although my major is Chemistry, we not only learn chemistry, we also learn many mathematical and physical concepts that are essential to understand chemical phenomena. Polymer Chemistry

  I would say that one of the subject that I have liked the most in my major is Polymer Chemistry, in this subject the plastics, resins and other polymers that are used in daily life are studied from a chemical and environmental perspective, describing the different methods with which these polymers are manufactured, their characteristics, properties, etc. And they try to find possible solutions for the environmental problem that its massive use supposes. In addition, we try to find possible solutions for the environmental problem caused by its massive use. At the beginning of the course I believed that only the chemical aspects of the subject would be studied, but I was surprised to discover that contamination due to the massive use of these polymers is also studied, and I would say that is why I really like this subject. Why did I choose my major?

  When I was a child, I liked to discover new things in nature, I went out to the garden of my house and entertained myself looking for insects among the flowers, under the stones and in the soil. My mom and grandmother loved plants, so they always filled the house with flowers, and I drew the patterns of the leaves, the petals, and collected their seeds. In my mind I was a scientist making a new discovery every day. This passion to discover remained with me throughout my school years, so when I applied to university, I had to choose between two options: Nutrition and Dietetics or Pharmacy. Biology and chemistry were my favorite courses, so I chose Pharmacy as it combined both courses. However, shortly after entering university I realized that the major was not what I expected, so I lost motivation and at the end of the first year I made the decision not to continue studying that major.
